elephant family is a small but brilliant UK-based charity dedicated to the conservation of the endangered Asian elephant. We are currently working on a high profile conservation initiative which will raise substantial awareness of habitat loss in Asia and vital funds for our conservation projects. This initiative is called “The Survival Tour” and involves a herd of life-size, topiary elephants touring Ireland and England throughout the summer. The herd will visit Cork, Dublin, Windsor, The Royal Parks and Selfridges department store in London and Brighton Royal Pavilions.
What do elephants have in common with our parks, you may ask! Well, it struck us that city parks - fragments of natural habitat in the centre of an urban sprawl - are a perfect metaphor for the problem facing Asian elephants in the wild.
Through ‘The Survival Tour’, elephant family is working in partnership with The World Land Trust and The Royal Parks Foundation to secure landscape corridors throughout India to allow elephants and other local wildlife to move safely between the remaining patches of forest.
‘The Survival Tour’ is our biggest event to date and a real opportunity to put the issue of habitat loss on the conservation agenda with a solution that works!
