What does the word 'bejant' mean?

We chose the name Bejant because the word 'bejant' pronounced in Chinese means 'Has to be the best'.

The word is also steeped in history, originating from the ancient scottish university of St Andrews, the third oldest university in the English speaking world.

At St Andrews the word 'bejant' is used to refer to a first year student who is 'graduating' from their previous course and starting their career at university. We feel this echoes nicely with our role helping students graduating from university take their first step towards professional employment.

How do I build my professional profile?

It's easy. Click the above link or complete the registration box on our home page making sure you select Student from the drop down option box. This will ensure you get access to profile pages and tools that will help you maximize your presence with potential employers.

How many videos can I upload on my account?

You can upload up to two videos which should be more than enough for most purposes. Most users only upload one, and you only need one to set up your full profile. We recommend you keep your video short and punchy, with a maximum length of 1 to 2 minutes. Read our help and advice for further help.

What if I don't like my video CV ?

No problem. You can re-record and upload your video CV as many times as you like.

How many pictures can I upload on my account?

In addition to videos, you can upload up to five pictures/files. Pictures can be uploaded in .jpeg, .gif, or .bmp formats and files in.doc, .pdf, .txt, .odt & .rtf. When choosing which pictures/files to upload, don't forget to choose pictures or documents that are most appropriate to enhancing your professional image.

How do I upload my CV / resume?

You can upload your CV/resume as a document using the upload file feature that you can access from your MyProfile setup/edit page. Simply click to upload and follow the instructions.

What do people see when they click on my profile?

If your a Student that's up to you! Based on the preference settings you have setup in your Privacy Policy profile you can control access that others have to your profile. To see what people will see, select MyProfile from the main menu, and then select Privacy Policy. Follow the on screen prompts to set up your Privacy Policy and view/edit the various views of your profile as applicable.

What types of video files can I upload?

Your video can be uploaded in .wmv, .mov, .mpg, .avi, .mp4, .3gp. formats. Make sure your video is under 2 minutes in length (or 5 minutes if you are a Company). If your video meets these minimum requirements and won't upload, there may be a problem with the video compression you're using. We recommend the .mov (MPEG4) format at 640x480 resolution with MP3 audio.

Do you share my data with anyone?

At Bejant we take data security very seriously. Your data is only shared with users of Bejant in accordance with the preferences you setup in your profile and our Privacy policy. To view or change these preferences, select MyProfile from the main menu, and then follow the on screen prompts to view/edit your preferences as applicable. To view our Privacy policy, click on the appropriate link in the header of every page.

How do I remove my video or information I no longer want to display from my profile?

Simply log on and go to your MyProfile page. Use the appropiate Edit/Delete options to change the information contained in your profile and click on the Privacy Policy link to change the view of your profile seen by the different groups of users on Bejant.

How do I apply/subscribe to jobs/events?

You can see a full listing of the vacancies/events posted on Bejant by selecting the a ppropriate option on the main menu. Narrow down your choice to the one's you are interested in by using the sites search facilities, and then simply follow the onscreen prompts on the appropriate page to register your interest or apply.

Are there any limitations on the number of job/events I can subscribe to?

No. You can apply/subscribe to as many as you want to.

What do I do if I discover problems with the site?

Bejant is in 'beta' stage development and is currently being developed to add increasingly complex functionality. If you do discover any problems whilst using the site, please email bugs@bejant.com.
